WARNING LIGHTS AND WHAT THEY MEAN
All cars sold in America since 1996 are equipped with a new generation of check-engine lights but what do they mean?
Your vehicle's computer receives information from sensors that monitor critical functions. If these sensors report anything outside the normal operating range, the computer triggers a warning light. What you should do next depends on which light has been activated.
Check Engine Light: Yellow in color and looks like the side view of your engine. This warning light indicates potential engine problems. However, it can also illuminate if the gas cap is left loose after refueling. If this does happen check your gas cap by retighting it and drive vehicle for a short distance and see if light goes off. If it does then your okay.
If the light stays on,you should call and speak to our service specialist at your earliest convenience.
If your light flashes you have a serious problem.Your vehicle requires immediate attention to prevent damage to the catalytic converter. Visit our service department right away. Remember that the check engine light comes on when your vehicle senses a problem. and should always be checked by a specialist.
Antilock Warning Light "ABS": If the Antilock Braking System light comes on it indicates that the antilock portion of your brake system is not functioning.
This does not mean you have lost the ability to brake. Your conventional brake system will continue to operate normally " provided that the brake warning light is not on too ).
Arrange to see your service specialist as soon as possible, and untill the problem is repaired, dont apply the brakes too suddenly.
